The 13th century Urquhart Castle has a striking silhouette when viewed while crossing Scotland’s most famous lake. Upon reaching dry land, visitors can peruse medieval artefacts within the castle or climb to the top for a breathtaking view of the Great Glen.
Make a day of it and enjoy lunch along the banks of the lake. Be advised, though. You might want to pack a pair of binoculars just in case you see strange ripples in the water.
